SOMA Osteopathy Institute Milan (Italy) was founded in 2000 and follows the highest standards of osteopathic education & training, according to the rules of the CEN Standard EN 16686 and the standards of AISO (Italian Association of Osteopathic Schools), which established the osteopathic profession benchmarks. SOMA teachers are Osteopaths, Medical Specialist and highly qualified University Professors. The educational offer is aimed at both high school graduates - Type 1 programme - and healthcare professions - Type 2 programme. Both programmes are five-year long, with compulsory attendance and an amount of observational and practical training hours divided per year. SOMA boasts two headquarters for clinical practice, aimed at adults and children, which allow students to practice on outpatients under the supervision of clinical tutors. For each year of the course, SOMA accepts a maximum of 45 students to guarantee a correct and structured performance for theoretical and practical aspects of the subjects, particularly during the lessons entirely dedicated to the osteopathic clinical approach. SOMA collaborate with many hospitals in Italy and sports associations such as FISI Italian Federation of Winter Sports where students can do training. Furthermore, SOMA is dedicated to research and boasts numerous publications and study projects that aim at evidence in the osteopathic field and an evidence-informed approach for osteopathic education.
