The first Open Forum "Cooperation in Osteopathic Education"

On November 28th and 29th 2009 OsEAN held its first “Open Forum for Osteopathic Education” conference in Vienna/Austria. The topic was “Cooperation in Osteopathic Education” among the topic areas were teacher training, research cooperation, students exchange programs and administrative cooperation.

During the past decade Osteopathy in Europe has been expanding at an enormous speed. There is a strong trend towards university validated courses, requiring a constant improvement of the quality of Osteopathic Education. Most schools are striving for growth and improvement on their own and with limited resources whereas cooperation and exchange can help us to learn from each other and take the profession to a new, academic level together.

Very positive projects in this sense in the past few years were the recent ERASMUS initiative by the Centre Européen d’Enseignement Supérieur d’Ostéopathie (CEESO) and the Conferences for Osteopathic Education hosted by the British school of Osteopathy (BSO) and the Osteopathic International Alliance (OIA), and we'd like to use the meeting in Vienna to take those initiatives a step further.

Here you can find more about the presentations during this open forum.
