Edouard-Olivier Renard (June 1954 – March 2014)

OSEAN is sad to announce that Edouard-Olivier Renard, Principal of the CEESO/France, passed away in March after a severe illness. OSEAN sends its condolences to his family and friends as well as his colleagues at the school.

Edouard was a dedicated Osteopath D.O, Director and founder of CEESO and served OsEAN several years as an enthusiastic Vice-President and Board member.

After his graduation in physiotherapy in 1977, he became a member of the medical delegations and framing swimmers at the Mediterranean Games in 1979 (Split), and at the 1980’s and 1984 Olympics (Moscow and Los Angeles).

In 1990, Edouard-Olivier Renard graduated of Osteopathy from the British School of Osteopathy (London).
He founded the CEESO in 1991 and has since then been committed to an unconditional struggle for the recognition of Osteopathy as well as the development of high quality training.

Beside his teaching activities, he was the osteopath of the Opera de Paris ballet which has earned him nicknames such as "Edward golden hands" or "the ballerinas’ repairer".

As a man with a strong character, he liked things going fast. His dedication and commitment to Osteopathy will never be forgotten. Qualified osteopaths were and always will be trained through his work. He will be sadly missed.

Adrian Barnes MSc(Ost) D.O (1955 – 2014)

OSEAN is sad to announce that Adrian Barnes, Principal of the ESO, passed away on Thursday February 6th 2014 after collapsing in the gym. OSEAN sends its condolences to his wife Janet, Ian, Emma and the family.
 
Adrian became the Principal of the ESO in April 2007. He worked closely with the Board of Trustees, senior management team, staff and faculty to place the School in its current strong position, both educationally and financially. He worked to further develop the School’s reputation internationally as well as to ensure its position as one of the top osteopathic education institutions in the United Kingdom.
 
Adrian graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in 1978 and returned to teach osteopathic technique and clinic in the same year. He continued to combine a career in osteopathic education with his clinical practice throughout his working life. His osteopathic education career led him to teach at other osteopathic education institutions in the UK and Europe.
 
During his career, Adrian worked with a number of people from various institutions and organisations, supporting OSEAN in many ways.

European Collaboration

 In August Raimund Engel (OSEAN) met with Gert Jan Goede (Forum for Osteopathic Regulation in Europe) and Jonathan Bailey (European Federation of Osteopaths) in London. They discussed the CEN standard and other perspectives for cooperation between the three European organisations. A very productive day with lots of exciting perspectives!

Conference Report: Quality in Osteopathic Education

Over 100 delegates from 15 countries including UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Russia, Australia, Norway, Canada, Austria, Israel, Finland, New Zealand, Japan, Belgium and Portugal attended the third international osteopathic education conference on Saturday 9 April 2011 at the Royal Society of Medicine, central London. OSEAN is growing

Several schools have accepted our invitation to look into OSEAN membership, and in November we were able to accept four of them as full members:
