Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics

This project determined the location and distribution of cavitations (producing vibrations and audible sounds) in the lumbar zygapophyseal joints that were targeted by spinal manipulative therapy. Fifty-six cavitations were recorded from 46 joints of 40 subjects.

Spinal manipulation is a therapy which is frequently used for headaches. During the last decade, several systematic reviews of this topic have been published. Confusingly, their conclusions are far from uniform. The aim of this article is to identify the reasons for this confusion and to create more clarity about the therapeutic value of SM.

Myofascial Release and Fascial Unwinding are widely used manual fascial techniques, generally incorporated in treatment protocols to release fascial restrictions and restore tissue mobility. However, the effects of MFT on pain perception, and the mobility of fascial layers, have not previously been investigated using dynamic ultrasound in patients with neck pain and low back pain.

Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice

To document the evolution of cranial asymmetries in infants with signs of nonsynostotic occipital plagiocephaly (NSOP) who were to undergo a course of four osteopathic treatments (in addition to the standard positioning recommendations) as well as to determine the feasibility of using this methodology to conduct a randomized clinical trial investigating the impact of osteopathic intervention for infants with NSOP.
