In this weekend workshop we will discuss the manifold aspects of teaching osteopathy. It will have a a strong practical focus, aimed at those new to teaching as well as at experienced lecturers, who are looking for a broader repertoire of methods or a better understanding of the underlying principles. This is a weekend course which will start on Friday and countinue until Sunday afternoon, overall 25 hours of lectures and 100 hours of studying.

Aims & Objectives

  • To explore the importance of the teacher’s personal motivation
  • To apply the osteopathic principles in teaching
  • To give a brief overview of communication theories
  • To experiment with different ways of presenting content
  • To use media like PowerPoint presentations, handouts or models
  • To discuss ways of handling disturbance or conflict
  • To highlight the value of varying social structures (whole group -small groups – triads – pairs)
  • To identify important principles for planning and preparation

Learning Outcomes

The candidate should be able to:

  • To use an essential vocabulary as part of a broad overview of contemporary ideas, issues, questions and practices in osteopathic education;
  • To explore different methods and venues for teaching and learning
  • To apply the osteopathic principles in teaching
  • To give a brief overview of communication theories
  • To produce and use media like PowerPoint presentations, handouts or models
  • To make use of different ways of presenting content
  • To introduce ways of handling disturbance or conflict
  • To highlight the value of varying social structures (whole group -small groups – triads – pairs)
  • To identify important principles for planning and preparation
